WELCOME TO GOLDDUST.

The home and digital gallery for the innovative work of Goldsmiths students and alumni.

WHAT IS GOLDDUST?

GoldDust is a platform for students and alumni across all departments of Goldsmiths, University of London. It is brought to you by Creative Writing students at the Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies as a celebration of ‘the narrative’ depicted in writing as well as other forms.

We are a digital magazine, featuring a curated selection of quality content submitted by Goldsmiths’ students and alumni twice and sometimes three times a term. In each issue, our home page is updated with brand-new content. The content from previous issues is placed in the archive pages which you can browse at leisure.

IZZY JUDD
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Izzy is a third year student who studies Media and English Literature. She is an aspiring creative writer who enjoys writing short stories with a gruesome, horror driven plot. Outside of university, Izzy’s passions include reading, watching films and listening to music.

LOUIS CHAPMAN
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Louis is a third-year BA Media and English student who enjoys structuring and detailing language within prose, poetry, and short script pieces. His love for creating emotion through words extends to the music that he writes and produces - although he must adopt a greater urgency for sharing his melodic thoughts with the rest of the world and cease to listen to voices of self-doubt that prevent his art from being heard. Amen! He also very much enjoys immersing himself in other people’s creative works, which is why he absolutely loves being an editor of the GoldDust magazine.

ISABELLA VALENCIA ZAPATA EDITOR

Isabella is a second-year BA Media and English student specialising in poetry, epistolary prose, and video editing. She is passionate about curating emotional pieces in both poetry and film, weaving them together through literature’s organic perspective. In Golddust, she will be receiving your creative work and treating it with depth and care—every word deserves to be used, and every voice holds the potential to become art!

JOHNNY CRUTTENDEN CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Johnny Cruttenden is studying Media and Communications at Goldsmiths. His academic work, fiction and audiovisual art investigate how media technologies reshape language, culture and experience. His creative direction works towards GoldDust expressing and embodying the context that it will always be leaning upon, the infinite chaos of a mid 2020s internet. You can find pieces of Johnny’s media art on his Instagram @clemdot11 and music on his Soundcloud, again, under clem dot.

ZAINAB SIKANDER CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Zainab is a driven second-year BA Media and Communications student specialising in experimental filmmaking, with aspirations to pursue a film career. She enjoys collaborating within a team, which has facilitated her in producing passionate and creative works that highlight her directing, editing and literacy skills. She hopes to transfer and showcase these skills through her creative direction at GoldDust magazine. Keep an eye out for the social media posts!

VINCENT CANFORA CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Vincent Canfora is a Brazilian-British student in the Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths. He is a self-described “quirky books” enthusiast and posts findings on his Instagram, @countzerosum. He writes on occasion and works in the hospitality industry. The working environment of hospitality and those who populate it inform his writing, alongside authors such as Nick Cave, Paul B. Preciado and Nate Lippens. Vincent takes an interest in class, masculinity, and artistry.

AISHA AZAM EDITOR

Aisha Azam is a second year Media and Communications student who is fuelled by a love for storytelling, particularly surrounding her culture and religion, and aims to showcase accurate representations of those in her community. As a Royal Television Society bursary scholar, she’s had the chance to connect with industry pros (she has met Catherine Tate and once made eye-contact with Stephen Knight).
